Baby Supplies

Okay, Matt and I just talked about baby supplies and funds. I want to go ahead and get them while we have the money. I know, we are WAY ahead of the game! Here is what we have on the list so far:

Mabis Fetoscope
Mabis Self-Taking Blood Pressure Cuff
Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year
Emergency Childbirth: A Manual
Puppy pads (chux)
Cord Clamps (2)
Umbilical Scissors
Bulb syringe
Mattress pad
Lube
Hot Water Bottle
Foot printer with Certificate
Unassisted Childbirth
Unassisted Homebirth: An Act of Love
The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth
Ina's May's Guide to Breastfeeding
The Power of Pleasurable Childbirth
Active Birth
Birthing from Within
Childbirth without Fear
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth

A ton of books, mostly. I think most of the other stuff I will get as I go. What else do you think I should have? The only thing annoying me is that I feel like I am leaving off something HUGE from this list. But, it isn't like I don't have more than enough time to remember what it is and find it! Let me know if you have any suggestions! I am open to anything you think will help.

  1. i have a pile of unused chux pads you can have if you want them! yay for fast births and no cervical checks :)

obviously things like warm towels and baby blankets/hats/diapers are good to have at hand... a scale to weigh the baby... measuring tape... plastic sheeting for floor and bed, depending on where you deliver. and i must add that "depends" are your friend after birth!! so much easier and more absorbent than maxi pads. you can sleep and not worry about bleeding on your sheets.

i hate to "go there" but the only other thing might be some emergency resus gear if you can get your hands on some or borrow it.

  2. yeah, I would love to get your chux! I pretty much have the newborn "stash" of clothes and blankets (for both sexes) covered. I didn't think about plastic for the floor, maybe some cloth paint cloth?
I have a measuring tape. And I must have just forgot to list the scale, silly me! I just haven't found a good place (reasonable) to buy one yet.
Did you (are you) bleeding enough to warrant Depends? I didn't bleed all that much after the c-section (which is apparently normal).
And for the resus gear, I told Matt he needs to take a neo-natal resuscitation course and I think they provide or, at least, let you know where you can find the gear (I am hoping). I would rather have it on hand and not need it than the alternative! Either way, I am really looking forward to the next pregnancy. I just want to get things done so I can relax and enjoy it!
